And The Beat Goes On.

I acquired a fan in an attempt to drown out the jukebox with white noise. I then purchased a CD player with headphones in order to do the same. My roommate gave me earplugs. But none of these are sufficient to fight the music emanating from the Tavern.

Last night, I phoned 311 at 12:27 a.m. (C-1-1-138607352 ticket closed by Unit NYPD at 6:02:00 as non-crime corrected.) Bar closes when??

Thank you, Target brand pain reliever with sleep aid. You win.

I found your site via the homeless guy's link.

There is some comfort in reading someone with a similar struggle. Years ago, I lived above a restaurant that installed an elevator music system and played it just loud enough to keep me awake and annoy me--and make me incoherent and unproductive.

Does the bar at least have decent music?

I'm a light sleeper and (when I've had places to stay) I've looked into all sorts of soundproofing. I've also had high schoolers downstairs, screaming sex antic that the whole building could here, and a neighbor who liked slamming doors half the night. There's not much they can do for this situation.

Are there any laws against you putting things in protest (and do you have a place that faces the correct way)? You might have some fun with it and get some neighbors behind you. You are not alone in this (locally or globally)!

I'm planning to relocate to NYC soon. (note to self, avoid places above bars). Of course, I'll be lucky to get any temp work and housing at all; there are many reasons I stumbled on the homeless guy's blog.

If the roommate and/or neighbors are up, too, try to have some fun with it--it's painful, but there are worse things that could be happening, no?

Yes, B.E., I guess there is some comfort in knowing that someone else is tossing and turning to the heavy beat of Lynyrd Skynyrd! The selections are usually too bad. But there's one song, I have no idea what it is, that is just SO irritating.

Protest banners out the front windows would be nice... I'll think about it...

And I know there are much worse things. I saw a man walking along 34th during my lunch break one day. He looked like he had cerebral palsy maybe. And just to see
him lumber across the street and down the sidewalk, I was practically in tears.
